My Mother's Table
Some of my favorite moments in life are the times after a meal where conversations continue and a second drink is served. I often feel a ping of disappointment in that moment where someone gets up and starts to pick up the dishes. I try not to be that person.
From Fasting to Feasting
Today in the Greek Orthodox religion, we are celebrating one of the most important and exciting holidays of the year: Easter. After 40 days of fasting, today we feast.
Epic Love Stories, Part 2: A puppy, a 72-hour romance, and a 6th grade dance
After sharing the #kosterina Epic Love Story, we received some amazing Epic Love Stories from the Kosterina community. Just in time for Valentine's Day, here are a few that warmed our hearts.
Epic Love Stories: The Real #Kosterina Origin Story
#kosterina is the result of a 16 year-long crush, a meet-cute reunion on the streets of Manhattan, and soul-baring 54-slide Powerpoint presentation.
Was this the Lost Thanksgiving?
It's no surprise that Thanksgiving looked a little bit different this year. Most of us found ourselves navigating Zoom calls with family across the country, or cooking for four instead of forty. My family, who has a (very competitive but fun!) annual Thanksgiving video competition, promised we would reschedule Thanksgiving for some time in 2021 when it's safe to gather dozens of us in a tiny living room, laughing with joy. We're planning for a Springsgiving.
Reaching More Families
If you haven't heard, we have some really exciting news here at Kosterina: you can now find us in over 350 Whole Foods Market stores across the country. This is huge for us because this partnership is so aligned with our mission. We want everyone to get a taste of the benefits of authentic extra virgin olive oil.
Our Son's Baptism
The ancient Greeks loved olive oil. Homer called it “liquid gold” and Hippocrates, widely regarded as the Father of Medicine, called it “the great healer”. It’s been used for thousands of years as a delicious food, as healing medicine and as cosmetics for skin and hair.
Parenthood is not created equal
We have a problem of systemic racism in America. For me, it has been watching this crisis through the lens of parenthood that has struck me the most. I don’t think I fully realized the burden that my fellow parents need to bear when they are parenting Black children.
Text your Mom
Mother's Day is just around the corner, and while we might not be planning for the fancy eggs benedict brunch out this year – maybe we can change things up to thank mom on a deeper level.
Why You Shouldn’t Miss Out on the Family Meal
Put the phones down, clear your schedules, and make time for loved ones—it might make you happier and healthier. All of us know how busy daily lives can get.
