I have known for some time that cold pressed extra virgin olive oil was the healthiest oil to use whenever fat is needed in cooking, baking or in salads. What I didn't know until recently is that it is very important that the olive oil that is best comes from combining only ONE type of olive and from only ONE place. In the grocery store I see bottles that are labeled as coming from various places and that are from various mixtures of olives.
So when I discovered Kosterina made its olive oil ALL from the SAME type of olive, and that they made first harvest, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil--and that they had organic varieties as well, I was thrilled. It is worth spending a bit more to provide the best of the best for my family.
The shipping time has always been reasonable and the bottles have come well packed and intact. Now I am exploring their various wine vinegars--blueberry, cucumber/lemon and tangerine. They are delicious on salad. I have ordered some balsamic vinegar but it hasn't arrived yet.
