The Craziest Questions We've Received about EVOO
Dear Kosterina Family,
Growing up in a Greek family, we used olive oil on everything. It was sprinkled everywhere - from our salads to our hair (think of it like a healthier version of Windex from My Big Fat Greek Wedding). But, since launching Kosterina we've received a ton of questions about how to use EVOO in your everyday life.
Here are answers to a few of the top questions we get (and yes, the short answer - your dog can have EVOO!):
1. Can I use olive oil on my face and body?
Dermatologists everywhere agree: EVOO does wonders for your skin. Not only is it great for hydration and glow, but it's packed with antioxidant properties like squalene that protect your skin from free radicals, environmental damage and more. Generally, it's safe to use daily - especially as protection against sun damage.
2. What are the benefits of drinking a teaspoon of EVOO a day?
Research has found that drinking even just a half teaspoon of olive oil each day has a drastic impact on your cardiovascular health. Not only does it have long-term health benefits, but it also supports daily digestion.
3. If I put olive oil on my hair will it get weighed down?
People have been using olive oil as a central part of their haircare routine for centuries. It's a great, natural way to provide shine and hydration to your scalp. But remember - you only need 1-2 teaspoons in order for it to have an effect. And, the quality of your EVOO will have an impact on the way it hydrates your hair, so be sure to use high-quality "extra virgin" olive oil.
4. Can I give EVOO to my dog?
The short answer is yes.
The dog mom on the team, Emily, dug into the research on the topic and was pleasantly surprised to learn that yes, olive oil is good for your dog! Dogs stand to gain a lot of the same benefits we humans reap from olive oil, provided it is quality stuff, consumed in moderation, and approved by their veterinarian.
