Born in Italy, our friend Anna Francese Gass came to the United States as a young child and grew up eating her mother’s Italian cooking. But when this professional cook realized she did not know how to make her family’s beloved meatballs—a recipe that existed only in her mother’s memory—Anna embarked on a project to record and preserve her mother’s, and other immigrant mothers' recipes for generations to come. The book features Kosta's mother's recipe for Spanikopita, and comes with 3 bottles of our Original 500mL Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our EVOO is cold pressed in small batches from a single blend of early harvest Koroneiki olives grown in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece, our EVOO has a high chlorophyll content, making it rich in healthy polyphenols (an anti-inflammatory antioxidant). Polyphenol content measuring over 55mg/kg is required for an olive oil to be deemed extra virgin - this Kosterina harvest measured 430 mg/kg of polyphenol content!
